2019 CSA Week 8 Recipes

Last week our tomatoes really started to ripen, which has been very satisfying for us after staring at green fruit everyday for the past month. In the share this week we included some delicious heirloom tomatoes which have incredible flavor. We also included two delicata squash which, as the name suggests, have a delicate rind which softens when cooked and is therefore quite tasty. A few of our winter squash varieties have already matured so we will be including those over the next few weeks and months. Thank you for supporting our farm and have a great week!

2019 CSA Week 7 Recipes

This week puts us one quarter through our 2019 CSA program. Things are looking quite green and our tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant are really starting to produce for us. We still have to wait until the plants give us more than a slow trickle of fruit before we can include all of our variety in the shares. This week’s share includes basil and mint, which don’t tolerate cold well, so leave the herb bag outside of the fridge. Have a great week!

2019 CSA Week 6 Recipes

It’s definitely feeling like summer now! We’ve had so much rain the past few weeks we almost forgot how to irrigate, and the past few days we’ve had to dust off our irrigation valves to pump some precious water to our crops. This week our crew transplanted a few hundred trays and we’ve been busy seeding several hundred more trays of succession crops. We’ve put together a great share this week including braising brassica greens which is a mix of curly kale, collard greens, and kohlrabi greens. The greens are delicious slow cooked, such as in the recipe below, in a soup or stew, or finely chopped in a salad with a creamy dressing.
